December 31 - Oscar Villata

Photo Jesper Berg
It's only a couple of ours left of this year and soon we have a whole new year to look forward to. But looking back it’s been a great year and we’ve asked one of our absolute favourite DJs Oscar Villata to tell us what he thought was the highlights during 2007.
He runs the brilliant nightclub "Oh Baby - I Like It Raw" and he’s also a resident DJ at the club Versus. He’s been working with legends like Matthew Dear, Michael Mayer, John Dahlbäck, Justus Köhncke and Ada just to mention a few.
This is what he had to say about 2007.

There´s been so many great releases 2007, here´s some of my favourites.
Enjoy!

TEN I LOVED PLAYING 2007, NO RANKING.

- Boris Brejcha - "Wellenreiter"
Boris is a virtuoso of mastering alongside producers such as 2000 And One
and Audion. The best track from his album "Die Maschinen Sind Gestrandet"
released in july.

- Minilogue - "Orglar A"
The best techno tune made in Sweden this year. A deep, almost soulful,
minimal beat combined with a moogy melodie that has it´s own life. Feels
like the tune is telling a story about a eventful and hazardous journey.
So good, I love it!

- Decoy Linzatti - "Quibble"
It´s a rather minimal beat but with a cracked and distorted bass that
pounds all through the tune and leaves no one standing still. It´s not
easy to lay down who realy made the track. There are two Linzatti´s, the
brothers Mathias and Staffan. At beatport.com it´s Staffan who made it, at
myspace it´s Mathias and at discogs.com it´s Decoy...

- Oliver Koletzki & Kiki - "Don´t Forget To Go Home"
We played this one at our Different-penthouse party in september and the
roof top literally vibrated. Oliver Koletzki has had a great year and 2008
will be even bigger for him. Don´t sleep!

- Aril Brikha - "Winter"
A neo trance-detroitish track with an ocean of rolling synths. Listen and
I´ll garante you goose bumps. PS. Aril is playing live january 18th at a
night club nere you...

- 2000 And One - "Work"
Massive tune, a real party booster! This track never fails to do it´s job;
to get people fired up and filled with energy. It sounds like a mix of old
school house from New York and Detroit. 2000 And One is one of the biggest
producers of 2007 with outstanding tracks like "Work" and "Pak Pak", and
remixes of Aardvarck´s "Cult Copy", Lazy Fat People´s "Low Profile", Kit
Clayton´s "Grey Amber", Onur Özer´s "Red Cabaret"... The list is long.
2007 belonged to Dutch producers.

- Radical Majik - "Dubrider"
BOMB! 12.09 minutes of dubby melancholic techno. Every time I play this
the dance floor explodes.

- Cobblestone Jazz - "Put The Lime In Da Coconut"
This is an excellent track from an excellent group. Techno superstar
Mathew Jonson, Danuel Tate and Tyger Dhula are Cobblestone Jazz, a moogy
jazzy analogue techno experience. It´s hard to describe the track, it´s
simply crazy! You have to listen to it yourselves!
"W" is another great track from the same album called "23 Seconds".

- Gregor Tresher - "Running Systems"
Start by adding a bouncing tech house beat, then add a looped hypnotic
synth and a high pitched west coast hiphop note. Flavour it with echos &
reverb and you have "Running Systems".

- Ritch & Collins - "Fortuna"
Paul Ritch is one of my favourite producers. He range from Zander VT-like
techno with heavy beats to more detroitish productions, every time with
lots of bounce and rhythm. Here he teams up with the great Anthony Collins
and delivers a four track 12", which in my opinion is the strongest
release from Get Physical 2007. The bouncing sub bass beat and the
shuffled toms/blocks makes this one of my favourite tunes this year.

Oscar Villata (OhBabyILikeItRaw/Versus/Different)

Van Rivers & the Subliminal Kid Mix

Yes, it’s the last day of the year and of course you gonna want some new music to welcome 2008. Its over ten minutes long but it’s definitely worth it. The sound is slowly beating it self up and after a while you will see the magic.

Turbo Weekend “My Name Is Legion (Van Rivers & the Subliminal Kid Mix)”

Britney Spears - Piece of me (Mysto Pizzi dance mix)

Sorry for the low posting but we’ve been pretty busy during the Christmas with DJing and partying.
Still, the holidays ain't over yet and here’s another banger for the dance floor from the brilliant duo Mysto & Pizzi. Pure gold.

Britney Spears "Piece of me (Mysto Pizzi dance mix)"

Hold On To Me, Baby

Here is an early Christmas gift from Sincerely Yours. This Air France tune is pure gold and better than anything you will find under the Christmas tree this year. Enjoy.

Air France "Hold On To Me, Baby"

Hurt (Chew Fu Refix)

Chew Fu been doing some great work lately. Last time it was a stunning remix of Keyshia Cole & Diddy's tune Last Night. This remix of Busta Rhymes and T.I.s tune Hurt has a great flow and I’m looking forward for more stuff from Chew Fu.

Busta Rhymes & T.I. - Hurt (Chew Fu Refix)
Huge thanks to Palms Out Sounds

I Found U (High Contrast Old Skool Revenge Mix)

Axwells tune ”I found you” must be one of this years most played tune, and I don’t mean only on Ibiza. This High Contrast remix kicked up the tempo a bit and this is a good way to start you’re evening with.

Axwell "I Found U (High Contrast Old Skool Revenge Mix)"
Thanks to Get Weird turn Pro

Tracey Thorn-King's Cross (Hot Chip remix)

When something sounds great in theory I usually wind up disappointed. So a Hot Chip remix of Tracey Thorn´s breathtaking "Kings Cross" must end up in tears and broken dreams, right?

Boy was I wrong!

This is "Missing" of 2007. It is sad, yet party. Popish techno with great vocals.
And I can´t resist it

Tracey Thorn-King's Cross (Hot Chip remix)

December 12 - Antonia

Today we continue our countdown to the New Years eve and this time we’ve asked the highly talented Antonia to list her favourite music from 2007. She is probably best known as Komon and Anthronica. Maybe you remember when we wrote about Anthronica a couple of weeks ago.
She has also made one of this winters best Christmas tunes. Make sure you download it before you read what she thought the highlights were during 2007.

Komon "Poetry for the Winter"

I’ve been residing in three countries this year. Contributed to the melting of the polar ice with 12 airborne trips. Brighton-Sweden-Brighton-Berlin-Sweden-Berlin-Munich-Berlin-Sweden---- Well, I am back in Sweden for now at least. I’ve met loads of lovely people and I’ve understood how much I value being happy. I know this now because I’ve been inside out, upside down, but being happy just for a few days can change a sad year into a happy year. Thanks for that. I am so glad to see you all again. To know what’s good, you also have to know what’s bad. Same as with music right?!

Since I’ve mostly been hanging out in second hand record stores and at car booth sale looking for vinyl bargains, I was a bit unsure what songs to write about at first when I got asked to contribute to the Sidekick blog. I don’t like to definitely say that these are the best songs of 2007 since I haven’t indulged enough in records releases this year. I really don’t have a clue what has been played on radio, let alone what works on Swedish dance floors at the moment, (lucky me,:). Ok anyway, these songs are in my opinion my favourites. Here we go…

Of Montreal "Du Og Meg"
This track was released on the Ep Icons, abstract, thee e.p. [Polyvinyl, 2007]
A good story line in the song, a dry snare drum and a sax solo worthy of any decent "dans band". Belle & Sebastianic influences can be heard and I am a sucker for songs with a story, this one is about a girl that falls in love with boy that’s in a rock band and joins the tour as a t-shirt seller. Just so you know.

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart "The Pains of Being Pure at Heart"
The PoBPaH is a four piece band from New York, three blokes and one girl.
The beat is fast, a reverb on the snare drum makes me think of Radio Dept. "Please don’t tell me I’m your friend, I am not your friend". Think noisy pop with some droning guitar parts. Someone is beating the tambourine on every single beat as to put the words "We will never die" in your head forever, sung by sweet boy and girl vocals. If you like the Pastels and My Bloody Valentine, you’ll hate yourself if you don’t check this band out.

Liechtenstein "Stalking Skills"
As I told you before, I love getting my fingers dirty (from flipping trough records at fleamarkets). Well, I wont have to do that to get hold of this record that was released on Fractions Discs in the beginning of the year although it sounds like could have been released 1982. It’s a four piece band, all girls!!! They are playing in Gothenburg on the 29th of December and I know its not good to get all exited over live shows but I am guessing that this will be my last and best concert experience of 2007.

Art Of Noise - Beatbox (The Lady Foursquare remix)

It’s been a good week on Radio Sidekick so far. We’ve share a lot of great music and it’s not over yet. I almost lost it the first time I heard this tune. I love how it changes in the middle and the classic Loletta Holloway vocals are brilliant. Big ups to the Lady Foursquare for this great remix.

Art Of Noise - Beatbox (The Lady Foursquare remix)
Thanks to Trash Menagerie

Fais Rentrer Les Euros (Feadz Vocal remix)

Audioporno did a banging remix of this M.I.T.C.H. tune a while back but this vocal remix by Feadz is a new favourite.

M.I.T.C.H. (Feat. Uffie & Feadz) - Fais Rentrer Les Euros (Feadz Vocal remix)

Dettmann & Klock - Dawning (Revisited)

Cant get enough of this slow beating techno tune from Dettmann & Klock. I think its time for a trip to Berlin soon to watch these masters at work. You can get their high quality record here.

Dettmann & Klock "Dawning (Revisited)"

Canto Della Liberta (Vandalism Remix)

I really enjoy this Vandalism remix and I’ve been turning the volume up on it all day. Great tempo and it's a perfect substitute to all the Christmas tunes playing everywhere. I almost went insane when I was doing some shopping earlier today.

Tribal Kings VS. 3rd. Face - Canto Della Liberta (Vandalism Remix)
Thanks to Get Weird Turn Pro

Sidechains - The Wall

We got a mail earlier today from Sidechains that wants help to remix their hit song “The Wall”.

“The Wall is the new dance floor killer track by Sidechains, that it has been recorded exclusively to be part of Proyecto Batidora. From now, everybody can request the isolated parts now and remix the song.”

Sidechains "The Wall (Proyecto Batidora exclusive track)" (Direct)

Request to mix these songs

Bloody Beetroots - Ill to Destroy

Ill to Destroy is another banging tune from the Bloody Beetroots. They are on a huge tour right now so make sure that you catch one of their shows.

Bloody Beetroots "Ill to Destroy"

Kid Sister - Switch Board

This has already been up on all my favourite blogs this month but still. We’ve been playing it in the studio over and over and we probably gonna keep on playing it long after this year has ended.

Kid Sister “Switch Board”

Daft Punk - Aerodynamic (Ali HorrorBuster Remix)

I know, Aerodynamic is a tune that’s been remixed over and over again. But still, I love it and when people still makes a remix as good as this, it's worth the effort!

Daft Punk "Aerodynamic (Ali HorrorBuster Remix)"

December 4th - Staffan Lindberg

Today’s December 4th and the special guest for today is Staffan Lindberg. Its not the first time we wrote about Staffan on Radio Sidekick, a couple of weeks ago we shared his remix of Justin Timberlake’s Love Stoned. Staffan is also one of the people behind one of Sweden absolute best nightclub, Drama!. Its only been around since the beginning of the summer and already had guests like Surkin, Basteroid, Thomas Andersson, DJ Mehdi, Kissy Sell Out, Housewives, Para One and Kornél Kovács to mention a few. And they gonna end the year with a bang when they invited Sinden and Hervé. So you see why we're eager to know what Staffans favourite music has been this year.

For me 2007 was a great year. Looking in my cd-case I realize that the scene I represent went from electro house/tech house to French house and then over to English/italian bass lines, but (for me) all the time with a big scoop of minimal. The big question is probably still what “New Rave” was, except from American Apparel- dressed rock bands.
Here are the songs that made 2007 the great year it was:

*Stephan Bodzin "Bedford"
Stephan Bodzin is one of my absolute favorites and has been so for quite some time. With his subtle and melodic bass lines he’s amazed me more than once this year, but his best song is by far ‘Bedford’. I was actually so mad that none of the mp3 blogs posted it that I was about to start one myself (called Bedford off course) just to post it , but changed my mind when I realized how pathetic that would be. Download and listen to one of the most skilled producers of the scene.

*Zombie Disco Squad "Straight Boy"
That combining electro, bailefunk and a cheesy electroclash - bass line would get me off isn’t a surprise to my friends. When ZDS does this and ads a dirty, gay vocal, it makes one of the year’s best crowdpleasers. That the lyrics annoy and upsets people makes the track one of the year’s most important ones as well.

*Duke Dumont "Fanfare"
This is probably the most intense song I’ve ever heard (happy hardcore not included). A jazz sample and a chopped up scream later we have a song that combines the good features of this year better than any other. The French-style hi-hat and the English (or Italian?) bass blends into a song that will either scare the whole dance floor away or make the people scream for more. When I and Emilia of ‘I Love’ played together at a party with two hiphop djs, they refused to go on again after us since they thought that they didn’t have anything that could follow after ‘Fanfare’.
Trivia: Duke Dumont doesn’t like the song himself and never brings it to his gigs, which I sadly experienced when he played at Drama! and Trailer Trash.

*Alter Ego "Why Not?"
First I must say that Alter Ego made one of this year’s absolute best albums, which everyone should get. Combining minimal and maximal (?), cowbells and raw, analog synths, the album is pretty much a summary of all the elements I like with electronic music.
I could really pick ‘Jolly Joker’ as the best track of the album, but after hearing ‘Why not?’ 8 times during one weekend in London, I have to give in to the quirky, bouncy melody and realize that it’s one of the absolute best tracks of the year. Perhaps it’s the combination of guitar (?) and raw synth that makes it the crowdpleaser it is. Anyway I hope that it’ll blow some more Swedish dance floors away before the year is over.

*Gregor Tresher "A thousand Nights"
That a song can be this good really puzzles me. The sad but not sad melody that never gets all the way through the speakers speaks for itself. This sounds like any good afterparty should have during 2007.

*Amy Winehouse "Valerie (Sinden & Count Of Monte Cristal Remix)"
Don’t have a fun anecdote for this song. It made the second half of this year more fun and made the masses understand what “the thing” was about. I would be mad not to mention two of the best and most productive producers of 2007 (soon at a club near you).

Shorties:
*Marc Houle "Techno Vocals"
When Duke Dumont mixed it with his ‘Lean&Bounce’ I almost fainted. A true anthem.
*2000 And One "Work"
Techno? House? Who cares!? It’s good!
*Charlie Fanclub "Aviator"
Great song and electro producer that we should look out for. Soon at a club near to you *ehrm*.
*Gwen Stephani "Wind it up (Kissy Sell Out Remix)"
Blew Drama! away in July. Kissy will get huge during 2008.
*Ida Engberg "Disco Volante (Original Mix/Sebastien Leger remix)"
Can’t decide which version I like the most. Both are fantastic.
*Chemical Brothers "The Salmon Dance (Crookers ‘Wow’ Remix)"
Wow!

Alla Som Inte Dansar (Team Skidoo Tek Box remix)

Damn, this tune has become one of the most played tunes in Sweden right now!
My favourite memory of it was this Saturday when the club showed Techno Viking at the same time as they played the tune. Brilliant!

December 3 - Housewives

I hope the weather isn’t as bad as it is here in Sweden this Monday because it’s grey and cold. That's why we couldn’t be happier then to share this list from another one of our favourite DJ duos, the Housewives. They have in a short time became one of the most popular DJs in Sweden and their own club “Housewives” got voted the Best Club at Peoples Choice Awards 2007.
A couple of days ago we wrote about them and shared their brilliant mixtape and this is what they had to say about year 2007.

Three special songs on the Housewives dance floor 2007.

Mattic feat. Matbee - Kiff for you
There has probably not been any dance floor this year without this song pounding. It's got such a nice groove and always makes the whole dance floor moving in a mass psychosis.

Olivier Giacomotto - Gail to the O
When it's time to explode this tune has always been one of those ones who makes it, and it really gets us behind the dj booth in the right mood!

Roberto Rodrigues - I want to be a dj
This is a song that we've used many times to end our sets. It's such a good contrast to the often much harder songs played before and it works as a catchy ending. The lyrics are funny and we really hope that the people on the dance floor gets it. Its actually only 118 bpm but we use to put on the master tempo and pitch it up to 128bpm!

We've for sure played many memorable gigs during 2007 and we loved them all.
One different and exciting gig was the one in Halle in southwest Germany. We were booked together with other big names in the trance and techno scene. The event was called Schlafstörung (sleepless) and took place in a huge and closed down factory with a capacity of about 4000 guests. The soundsytem was ok, but the premises made the nicest techno house tune sound like the hardest rave beat. The visitors at the club were to 99 % rednecks. Shaved, muscular and with tribal tattoos. It was kind of scary just to walk from the backstage to the DJ booth, but luckily we had our own bodyguard that made the way. The harder we played the crazier they got, but they actually turned out to be pretty sweet in the end. In spite of their rough looks. After a brilliant gig we had more fans than ever and had to sign posters, autographs and take pictures the rest of the night!

Best Regards
Housewives

Dizzee Rascal - Flex

December 2nd - Rundgång

It’s no secret that Radio Sidekick is all about the free downloading of mp3s. But we also love the actual record and still heads down to the record store to check out all the new vinyl. One of our absolute favourite stores is Rundgång here in Malmö, Sweden.
It’s a great store with all kind of music, clothes and they often have arrange different kind of events and concerts. We’ve asked Dennis from Rundgång to list his favourites from 2007. This is what he came up with.

Year 2007
I’ve got a mission to write something about 2007, especially a couple of tunes that meant something to me.
But instead I’m gonna start to list the best concerts that I’ve seen (still, it could be more because the year is not over yet and I have to see 1990’s and Caribou).

2007 was the year when Rundgång/Deleted arranged more concerts than ever. This resulted in that we’ve experienced some amazing concerts. Some of these were really extraordinary according to my ears.

Pistol Disco – The day before midsummer, what a distorted inferno it became. And at the same time good rhythm so the whole store was rocking.

Cap Pas Cap – Möllevångsfestival and our grand new opening. These Irish knew how to use a cowbell! They had played at the eminent club High Five at the Debaser the day before. And someone tipped them off to check out our record store. They got so delighted that they ruined them self by shopping a lot of records. At the same time they took the opportunity to ask if they could do a gig at the store later that evening because there was other bands that was also playing. And if it was good the day before it was magical in our store.

Other concerts I don’t want to forget is: Psychic Ills (US) from N.Y., Creeping Nobodies (Can) did a gig in our store when we arranged a very successful festival. Another one of those bands where Pulse Emitter (US), fantastic kind of modulsystem music. Graveyard (GBG), Fuck With Eyes (Malmö) unfortunately no longer existing, KLoAK (DK) and many, many more.
And all of these played in our little store.

Finally I want to mention MOHA!. Two men from Norway that hit us in Malmö with amazement. They have managed to do two gigs in our store this year. They are our NEW FAVOURITE BAND LIVE!!

But of course, I’ve been to gigs at other locations as well. Cut City at the club High Five were really nice. Liars at Debaser worked for me. Wildbirds and Peacedrums at the El Patio festival was also one of those damn good shows that I unfortunately had to leave before it was over… well, well. And Ben Frost or benfrost as we call him. He played on the festival Full Pull at Inkonst and he was absolutely the best one there.

The thing with music is strange, you can discover new things at any time. 2007 was the year when I discovered the American hardcore punk genre from the early 80’s. Thanks to my colleagues at Rundgång/Deleted.
Songs like Edge with Minor Threat, Word Attack with Adolescents and Attitude with Bad Brains is really, really good.

Another tune that I discovered from my club colleague Erik this fall was Richard Bones Radiation, a real synthpop smoker from the dance floor. My, my, my... we’ve been dancing to this all year.

The list of new song that showed up in my life is endless but here is a few.
Ben Frost - Swarm
Familjen - Det snurrar i min skalle
Cap Pas Cap - Said say it
Fuck With Eyes - Sit down and die
Randy Barracuda - Skweee like a pig
VED - Liquid Shadows
Tussle - Warning
Gossip - STANDING IN THE WAY OF CONTROL (Headman remix)
Gossip - Careless Whisper

+ all the long and haaaaaard electro accustic songs that I’m too tired to list at the moment.

2007 was good year for music but it could have been better, in my case because I had to take a second job on the side to survive. To all of you who reads this, if you love music, show it. Buy records, go to concerts. Let yourself get dragged in to happiness, because you get happy when you’re on your way home on a Friday night with fresh vinyl in you’re bag. Or on a party before a concert you’ve been waiting for a really long time. Let go, let the music take over.

See you in 2008

Best Regards
Dennis Lood
Rundgång
Psychic Malmö

Indurain - The moment

This is a new tune from Indurain. Earlier this year they released the songs "Hornstull Cinema" and "The Trip" on Cloudberry Records. Now they are finally back with the brilliant pop tune "The Moment" and I really like the lyrics. But you can’t go wrong when you include Wes Anderson and I Heart Huckabees in the same tune. Make sure you stop bye their MySpace for more info.

No More Long Years (Crimp Yr Hair remix)

I like this Crimp Yr Hair remix of “No more Long Years” from Matt & Kim. It’s got that chopped up sound that we all learned to love. I’m looking forward for more stuff from Crimp Yr Hair, their latest mixes has been really freaky and interesting.

Matt & Kim - No More Long Years (Crimp Yr Hair remix)

December 1 - Donk Boys

Today we start our special advent calendar which means that every day we will have a special surprise to count down the days to Christmas and New Years Eve. To help us we’ve invited friends and strangers to tell us their favourite tunes during the year 2007. It will be people from Alexis Weak, Drama!, Housewives, Different, Stockholm Beat Connection, Rundgång, Kopia and Trickski just to mention a few. You don’t wanna miss that!

We couldn’t think of a better way to start December 1st than with our friends Donk Boys. They have dropped some great tunes this year and if you have the opportunity make sure that you catch one of their DJ-shows. You can see them tonight if you’re in Malmö at the Rumble, you won’t be disappointed!
When we asked them to list a couple of songs they took the task very seriously and this is what they have been listening to most during 2007.

MARTIN ABRAHAMSSON
DONK BOYS - TOP 11 BUMPIN' CHART 2007

This is my top 11 (would have been a top 10 or even more, but these are the essentials for me). In order to make it to this chart, the track needed a groove that would make me go bonkers. No MP3s or unreleased trax in this chart; it's only the cream of the crop of this years record shopping from my personal collection. If you've heard me spin this year, you've most certainly heard me drop a tune or two from this wicked bunch. Enjoy!

01. SHANE BERRY - SCRAWLYS
The Scrawlys EP, Glückskind 005

Minimal meets deep house. Sick, shuffled and foggy follow up to his successful debut EP to Fillertet 2. Trippy, or what would you say? :P

02. MARK BROOM - BIRO
Ping Pong EP, Platzhirsch 10

Boing boing boing dirty! Dirty bleep techno complete with rave-stabs signed Mark Broom. Can you ask for more? I think not. Total bomb!

03. PROSUMER/MURAT TEPELI - WHAT MAKES YOU GO FOR IT
What Makes You Go For It, Ostgun Tonträger 07

Deeeeep! A real schmoozer from Germany. The genuine feel of old school house reshaped for today. Fresh shrinkwrap. Irresistable. A future classic?

04. CYBOTRON - CLEAR (TROY PIERCE REMIX)
Clear, Juno Records 3

The 1983 original is, hands down, one of my all time favorites. Now wearing Troy Pierce's farty minimal suit, it's returning to ignite new dancefloors over 20 years later. Wicked.

05. AFTERNOON COFFEE BOYS - GOODBYE FORT GREENE
Goodbye Drunk Foot, Clink 009

Tony Rohr + Tim Xavier + excessive amounts of coffee? The result: death caliber techno, which still echoes in my mind from the crazy nights @ Silo in Belgium.

06. AQUILINA & VENTURI - DISCO BUS
3 Hours, Trapez LTD 055

Funk! Techno! Played this to death this summer. Pure bliss when Agaric spun it at Mission. Everybody totally got on the disco bus! And it put the fun back in "minimal". :)

07. SLUTBOX - NITROGEN 2 OXYGEN 1 (ORIGINAL)
Nitrogen 2 Oxygen 1, Siteholder 03

Chicago house with a face lift. Fell completely in love with this groove the first time I heard it. And I still do. A real bounce fest which is precisely what you want.

08. JOHN KEYS - TORTURING LINES
Who's Afraid Of Virginia Tsedong?, Crosstown Rebels 039

Echoing of Kraftwerk, old Likemind style UK techno and jazz, this is the one of the three brilliant tracks on this EP that stuck in head. Another classic in my book.

09. KOLLEKTIV TURMSTRAßE - GRILLEN IM PARK
Grillen Im Park, Ostwind 010

Electronica/minimal anybody? I like. Big time. Huge tune in my heart (and on the Decks charts). Even got to spin it in a park this summer, nice indeed...

10. JOHN TEJADA & JUSTIN MAXWELL - PIMP MY GLIDE
Let Us Put Our Music In You, Palette 046

I am a long time sucker for mr Tejada's DBX influenced techno funk. Again, he has delivered. Been spinning this dirty number to death. Awesome.

11. ANTE PERRY VS BABYLON ROBOTS - DER URKNALL
Der Urknall/3 A.M., Systematic 0036-6

Ivan Smagghe played this @ Culture Box and it killed the dance floor. It still does, but doesn't it sound a bit too much like an old classic by Dave Clarke?

THOMAS JALDEMARK
DONK BOYS - TOP LABELS 2007

Five tracks? That's too few for sure, there is so much fucking
freaked-out lovely funkey music coming out so i decided to write a top
five of the labels that really moved me this year instead. Okay, here
we go:

1. Frankie
My love for Frankie began last year when the other donk boy, Martin,
bought the Takuya Morita ep and we both thought it was pretty far out
but really cool. Since then i payed attention to what was released on
the label and this year started with a housy affair by Todd Sines. Not
your ordinary house, instead there are some cool workouts here.. The
next strike was one of this year's megahits, a massive ep by italian
youngster Massi DL, hammered to death by the who's who of minimal
techno... great tracks with a really nice remix by Alexi Delano &
Xpansul also. Frankie himself came out with his album Darling this
year featuring six freaky bleepy tracks with some freaky remixes by
Mike Shannon & Massi DL for example. It was after that we decided it
was time to send a demo to the label and the rest is history :) After
2 releases by 3 Abnormal Boyz & Frankie it was our time to release our
debut ep Cpstyre, the best ep of the year of course ;) The 2nd half of
the year followed with three ep's equally good as the others by
Frankie, Mossa and Delete. All good shit. It's not your ordinary
minimal, its a bleepy freakfiesta and i freeking love it! With a
little inside information i can say that 2008 won't be any worse,
there is really awesome tracks coming out next year that will make
you all spin.

2. Tuning Spork
I wasn't much into the sound of Contexterrior/Tuning Spork before but
it began to change after i bought the first Fuckpony single on Get
Physical last year. This year i've grown to really see the awesomeness
of these labels and the stuff that's coming out there. Jay Haze is one
of the best and forwardthinking men in the bizniz imo. True soul, no
fucking bullshit. Justin McNulty's cooperation with others also
brought me lots of joy this year. His "hip-hop" project "Bearback"
first album came out and it was the first hip-hop shit i've liked in
years. Amusing eps by the Krak Street Boyz followed up through the
year, don't miss the track "Street Power", awesome! Other things to
look out for is the ep by Blackwell and the new Michal Ho album.

3. Circus Company
One thing is for sure, you can't blame the french people for bringing
us generic boring house & techno. Must be something in their blood...
Circus Company has left a really big impression in my mind this year
with awesome eps by Antislash, Le K & DOP. These ep's made me look
deeper into their catalouge and i found some true gems in their
backroster. I especially growed to like the music by the group Nôze.
Housemusic with a twist. I'm sure all of these frenchies will have the
same great output in 2008 also.

4. Heimatmelodie
Andre Crom's label has been responsible to some of the biggest
dancefloorhits this year. The 2nd release was a twotracker by the
english producers Spektre called Clones/Chiral. Great shit. These
british guys also made a remix for one of the autumn's biggest records
"Tomographie", made by the labelboss himself. I won't be describing
this cause you have to hear it to belive it, dancefloor mayhem. The
b-side, Bad Joke, is on top of that one of the funniest track this
year with a hysterious laughter as main ingredients.
The 12" released before Tomographie was made by Tom Dazing and it's
even better than it imo. Bleepy minimal stuff by one of the most
talented guys right now. Love all his recent output, check out the
track "Octopussy" released on MB Electronicks for example, some really
dark freakiness.

5. Tora Tora Tora
DB's Revenge. Tony Rohr's infectious synthline on this track grabbed
me by the balls instantly and i've played the record a gazillion times
since then. A main influence in the beginning of this year! Two other
great ep's this year was also released by TJR and Miro Pajic. Some
really cool bleepy farout-techno indeed. It made me also look into
thier backcatalouge and one of the best gems there is their tenth
release, "Baby Daddy", by The Rip-Off Artist. Pure fucking Funk!

Five labels is of course not enough but it's a representative what
i've been listening to this year and atm. I should also mention stuff
like Siteholder, Boogizm, Floppy Funk, Palette, Freude Am Tanzen &
Rompecabeza but i won't.

Acid Bells to you all!
